Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Removal Van Clapham in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights and to conduct our activities in a way that promotes dignity, fairness and respect.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Removal Van Clapham provides domestic and commercial removal, relocation and associated services. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom, and our supply chain includes subcontracted drivers and porters, vehicle hire and maintenance providers, packaging material suppliers, storage facilities, cleaning services and professional advisers. We recognise that elements of the logistics and labour supply sectors can be vulnerable to modern slavery risks, including forced labour, debt bondage and exploitation of migrant workers.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. Modern slavery is fundamentally incompatible with our values and the way we choose to do business. We will not knowingly engage with or support any organisation that is involved in, or turns a blind eye to, practices that constitute modern slavery or human trafficking.
All employees, agency workers, contractors and suppliers are expected to comply with our standards relating to human rights, fair pay, safe working conditions and freedom of movement and association. Any breach of these principles is treated seriously and may result in termination of contracts, reporting to relevant authorities and other corrective actions.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our commitment to ethical employment. As part of our onboarding process, key suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights legislation and that they do not engage in or tolerate modern slavery within their operations.
We conduct proportionate risk-based due diligence on suppliers, focusing on those operating in higher-risk sectors or geographies. This may include requesting written confirmations of compliance, reviewing publicly available information and, where appropriate, seeking further details on recruitment and labour practices. We reserve the right to audit existing suppliers, either directly or through trusted third parties, to verify alignment with our standards. Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we will work collaboratively with suppliers to implement improvement plans, or, if necessary, discontinue the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Removal Van Clapham encourages a culture of openness where concerns about modern slavery or unethical behaviour can be raised without fear of retaliation. Any employee, contractor, supplier or member of the public who becomes aware of potential modern slavery risks in our operations or supply chains is urged to report this immediately.
Concerns can be raised verbally to management, through internal reporting lines or in writing to senior leadership. All reports will be treated sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We will investigate any allegation promptly and fairly, taking appropriate action where wrongdoing is found. Victimisation of any individual who raises a concern in good faith will not be tolerated.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks within our business. Relevant team members, including those involved in procurement, recruitment and supplier management, receive guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery, such as signs of coercion, restriction of movement, withholding of documents, or unreasonable deductions from wages.
By enhancing understanding of these issues, we aim to ensure that modern slavery considerations are integrated into day-to-day decision-making and that staff are confident in escalating concerns.
Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with senior management, who are accountable for ensuring that policies are implemented and effective. We monitor our practices and supply chain relationships on an ongoing basis to identify areas where additional safeguards or improvements are required.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect changes in our business, legal requirements and best practice guidance. During each review, we will assess the effectiveness of our measures, including supplier due diligence, audits, training and reporting mechanisms. Where gaps are identified, we will set clear objectives and timeframes for improvement, demonstrating our continuing commitment to preventing modern slavery and promoting ethical conduct throughout Removal Van Clapham and its supply chains.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Removal Van Clapham and constitutes our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for the relevant financial year.
